Laura Hiebing is a lifelong Madison resident who received her bachelor’s degree in social work with a certificate in American Indian & Indigenous Studies and master’s in social work from UW–Madison. She is a proud alum of UW’s Native American Center for Health Professions (NACHP) and continues to partner closely with their team and the other AUNTIES, UNCLES, and COUSINS across campus. Her career has involved teaching and supporting students in a variety of settings including K-12 education, college, and adult career programming. Being involved with the Indigenous community on campus as a student helped her connect more meaningfully with her Métis heritage. Her own experience as a former student drive her passion to continually create spaces for Indigenous students to thrive on campus.
